Now, for my real thoughts. The presidunce said today that he expects a slowdown during the next quarter. Again, doth this fall under the category of "no shit, Dick Tracy." With the gumbermint spending a whole lot more than it can take in and with a war being fought (we could argue its merits and demerits sometime, maybe), and with the republicrats in congress adicted to pork barrel spending, I see a (dare I say the R word?) on the horizon. Consumer spending will take a huge hit when the full effects of $3.00/gal. gasoline are felt. Couple this with a quarter of our refinery capacity being shut down now, and this gives the Oil Brazillionaires another excuse for bidding up the price. What we need are patriots, but what we get are politicians. Bill Frist sold some stock, the circumstances of the sale strangely reminiscent of Martha Stewart. Tom Delay is indicted, the merits of which indictment smell like a political payback fish. Hillary is in the senate running for president and all is right with the world. I think I'll sell all of my stocks and take out a CD for a year or two.
Nah. Not really. In spite of all this, Greenie the Span says our economy is remarkably resiliant. If we could just break our addiction to credit---------
