Well, not really. The CMOS battery doesn't have anything to do with system RAM (it's specifically for the BIOS) and static electricity won't have any practical effect on the memory. The first instruction in that wiki article requires powering the computer off to clear the contents of the memory since removing the offending file is meaningless if it's already active in memory (especially if it's designed to "replace" itself when deleted).
