Its all relative. The wait is over to me means now, not we might PR something in two weeks. The "coming weeks" to me is less than a couple months because it would be coming months if its any longer.
For a stranded person floating in the water, the wait is over when a helicopter spots him. That doesn't mean they come back days or weeks later because they have to get approval to pick him out or spend a week making plans on what would be the best approach to get him out.
When a person orders a new car, the wait is over when its ready for pickup.
