It's a LOT more complicated than that. You have to actually tell the seismic company what you want and in order to do that you have to have the technical expertise to know what to tell them. You also have to get the approval of all the landowners whose land you are going to be trampling over without scaring them half to death with explosive charges. You must also provide for security of the people doing the seismic shoot. You also have to house them somewhere and feed them and get them fuel and do about a million other things that are fairly difficult expecially for a company who has never done it in a country that isn't exactly a garden spot. Personally I would greatly perfer an experienced JV partner do all of it. Yes you can screw up a seismic shoot even if you hire the best seismic companies in the world just by having a lousy plan going in. I've seen it happen on numerous occasions.
So, yes, we should be worried about ERHC doing a seismic shoot on their own. It's just another one of those things that it's better to be realistic about than pretend that its easy and that anyone can do it. They can't and it is difficult.
