Yes, that would be a good interpretation, in my opinion. God gives us all abilities and gifts, and expects us to use them for the benefit of His Kingdom thus being fruitful. Notice that the rewards were the same for each of the first two servants, reinforcing that it is what we do with what we are given that counts, not the total amount of what we do - I believe this and other related passages teach that our rewards in Heaven will be based on that principal. "to whom much is given, much is expected."
