I agree. It's an instructive example of how an affinity scam works. I think they should have explained how he assured everyone they were one big "family", rather than appealing to greed. He used the military, and to some extent religion, to draw people in. And all along he was betraying their trust.

He was in the Navy; he enlisted in 1985, right out of high school.
