It doesn't look as if Monk cut a deal.

Lots of people sent them information, from the time the divvy was cancelled. And as I understand it, early this year the SEC interviewed quite a few shareholders. I imagine they provided material about what Monk had said to them about buying and holding, his false credentials, and more.

Other than that, obviously the SEC had access to his trading accounts. It isn't clear whether they were able to get his bank accounts, but if they weren't, they will be now if they want to, I think.
