The FDA does not want to be held responsible for addicts abusing prescription drugs and therefore intends to approve only those new drugs with proven abuse deterrents. Once these new abuse deterrent new drugs are on the market it is only a matter of time that the FDA insist that doctors only prescribe the abuse deterrents and subsequently remove the others from availability.
