I don't understand those who hold Israel up as an example of all that ails the world. Sharon is no Eagle Scout. Arafat is a lousy leader too. But the real issue is Israel's right to exist. The plight of the Palestinians, a lost and tragic people, is being used by the anti-Israel factions in the ME and globally... All this while an aggressive program of genocide against Christians is overlooked by the pro-Palestinians bleeding hearts.
Christians are still being beheaded in Saudi Arabia, and other fanatic Islamic Republics. The Pope and various Jewish groups have been very vocal about the ongoing Holocaust in the Sudan, and other persecution. But otherwise the world is silent, once again. Dejavu??.. What I find most interesting (and hypocritical?) is that here in the US we have a very well organized, outspoken, and politically powerful "Christian Right".... Yet they folks focus their efforts on abortion, out of wedlock pregnancy, homosexuality, their brand of "family values". And remain silent on the mass murder of millions Christians at the hands of fundamentalists. If anyone one group has the power to combat such atrocities, it's the American Christian Right... You have to wonder about the silence?... I hope "Never Again!" is more than meaningless rhetoric.....
FWIW, I've casted my vote for PA Pres: Rev. Michael Sabbah, of the Church of the Nativity. Perhaps he and Peres could succeed where no one else have been able too....
