Sarai, you forgot a lot of Christian murdered in Lebanon (what brought about Sabra and Shatilla) as well as the emptying of Bethlehem from its Christian population by the current PA leadership.

Sarai - Because you don't see a lot of media coverage of the "Christian Right" voicing opposition to these regimes, it doesn't mean they're not doing so. Thousands of conservative Christians do a great deal to help the victims of these regimes. Remember the missionaries held by the Taliban? Remember the missionaries murdered in Yemen?

sarai..re: What I find most interesting (and hypocritical?) is that here in the US we have a very well organized, outspoken, and politically powerful "Christian Right".... Yet they folks focus their efforts on abortion, out of wedlock pregnancy, homosexuality, their brand of "family values". And remain silent on the mass murder of millions Christians at the hands of fundamentalists. If anyone one group has the power to combat such atrocities, it's the American Christian Right... You have to wonder about the silence?...
(bolding mine)
its no wonder Sarai..just proof of their hyprocrisy, and cowardice and fear of ANYTHING THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND...its a primal thing with them. They fear their survival depends on others being surpressed..GODLY?.....i think not!

But until you solve the Israeli-Palestinian problem, everyone, and I do mean everyone, will use it for all the ills of the region and the world. The jews will use it, the muslims will use it, and the Christians will use it. So you first HAVE TO solve the Israeli-Palestinian issue, "FAIR" and "RIGHT". After that, any "real" evils that may still remain will be very easy to identify and deal with. Otherwise we will be seeing the inevitable End of Times soon enough no matter what other road we choose (and anyone who thinks otherwise is deluding themselves).

sarai, what exactly would you have the Christian Right do? Anyone can criticize and you do it better than most. Anyone can sum up, in just a few words, the insignificance or failures in others lives. If it somehow makes you feel vindication then be my guest.

Christians, above all, are appalled that Christians are dying because of their faith in other lands. The places you mention, by the way, aren't the only place that there is persecution of Christians. That exists in every country, including in the United States where that "Right" is allegedly so strong. Persecution simply comes in other forms.

I would gladly give my life if I knew a way to stop the mass and heinous executions you refer to. I am sure there are many Christians who feel similarly. One irony of this is that these Christians are singled out simply because of a decision of faith, not even by their race which entails no decision at all. In fact, these decisions of faith come thru the assistance or leading of missionaries who often sacrifice their own lives in the process and are supported by other Christians at home.

There are many battles to be fought. Abortion may not be an issue of interest to you. But for those who see it as an abomination of God's commandments, as the Christians do, it can be no less important than what is happening in Sudan or Saudi. And, it happens to the most innocent of all, those who cannot possibly defend themselves.

You are mistaken. The real issue is everyone's right to exist, not just Israel's. Remember to choose your enemies carefully. History suggests that the only reason Israel does exist is because of that "Christian Right" you so flippantly malign.

This is false. The "Christian Right" has tried to shed much light on the plight of Christian martyrs worldwide.

You just don't hear about it much in our "liberal press," for it's more "politically correct" to portray Christians as the persecutors instead of the persecuted (individual stories excepted).
