How easy it is to forget. 7-8 years ago at one of my clients sites, I chatted several times ( in retrospect- superficially) with a young engineer - Christian Lebanese - talked about how Beirut was the Switzerland of the ME. He grew up in a small trown in the mountains, about 60-40 Christian/non-Christian - on a person to person basis - little animosity, it was the radicals - outsiders - PLO etc

Thousands of victims died, vanished or became handicaps for ever. For 15 years, our people in Lebanon
were savagely aggressed by the terror groups and Fundamentalist organizations.
Since 1983, American blood was spilled on Lebanon's soil to mix with Lebanese blood:
* The murder of the US Marines
* The blowing up of the US Embassy
* The assassination of US Ambassadors, diplomats and officers.
* The taking of hostages and the execution of innocent US citizens
