I was thinking the same thing as I drove home from work last nite. If this is a scam it must be the most inept and illogical con job in the history of scams. I, for one, choose to believe that this has been a trial and error project. One that has experienced the inevitable blow ups that creating an innovative product on a shoe string usually provides. You can't ignore the simple common sense of them continuing to include Design 1 and themselves in a PR while being "investigated" if they are perpetrating a scam.
Just my humble opinion of course,
