As promised, I followed up with my son who is a detective in NJ regarding our discussion yesterday about what constitutes an "arrest" when one is "stopped". In NJ, if you are detained ("stopped") and not free to leave then you are technically under arrest, which entitles you to certain rights and treatment...and Trayvon Martin was murdered by a citizen, not a policeman; Zimmerman has no legal right to "stop" anyone from walking in the development and Martin was under no obligation to answer a question or obey command from citizen Zimmerman.
