When you say "in a way that makes sense" you mean in a way that makes sense to you. I believe the sense is self evident. Frankly, your's doesn't make any sense to me either.

I'm not asking you to change my ideology, or vice-versa. I just think it's good to find some common ground, and most people believe that they can agree on the basis of money. That's why I asked if you could make the math work on a budgetary matter.

If you're saying that the truth is so "self-evident" that it doesn't matter if the numbers add up, then it's probably true that we'll never see eye to eye.

There is a view expressed currently that the rich are not paying their "fair share". The fact that someone says it does not make it true.

Agreed, but we don't have to agree on whether the rich are paying their fair share. If we can at least agree that a balanced budget needs to have revenues match expenses, then at least we can have a discussion on how far down to lower expenses (which I believe is your point of view) vs. how much to raise revenues (which I would argue should at least be part of the discussion).
