LOL!! You think he was telling the truth? I don't.

I am doing this for the SHAREHOLDERS!!..

He's doing it for $40K a month. And if Urbie offered me a similar arrangement, I'd say I was "doing it for the shareholders" too. And I even know MUCH more about the company than Maheu does. But I suspect he doesn't want to know anything that might create legal problems for him.
