Confusion re Bakken pricing continues: A recent WSJ write-up (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204642604577214872396920812.html ) claims that Bakken oil fetches about $70/bbl, which is a very substantial discount to the WTI benchmark However, as you may recall, John Hess stated in a CC last year that HES’ Bakken oil fetches a slight premium to WTI (#msg-62518973).
Since Hess has not repeated such a claim during the past few CC’s, perhaps the premium to WTI was a short-lived phenomenon. Regards, Dew
