If you hold charts even of fas on transparent paper over a chart of say xlf, you will notice that you have to turn the chart of fas counter clockwise a few degrees to get them both to line up.
This would be because of the said deterioration.
Try it, is an easy confirmation. Also, if they do not deteriorate then how do you explain the reverse splits on both FAS and FAZ?
Give FAZ a few months, that is if the major indices continue on their current pace or even if they stay flat, you will see another reverse split from FAZ.
