While you make some great points, the process really doesn't take that long anymore. I have been in Retail Management for almost 40 years. I can tell you first hand that Walgreens would not authorize the product without already having promotion plans in place. As far as getting the product to the stores, the placement is mandatory from walgreens corporate, and yes the distributor will make sure the product is located where it is suppose to be and labeled/signed correctly. The more they sell, the more they make. They have account reps who monitor all stock conditions every week, and order accordingly. I'm sure this is an open coded product, it is in the distributor's best interest to do the product rollout, as soon as they receive it within 2 weeks max, every walgreens they service will have product on the shelves available for final consumer purchase. Obviously, as you talked about Pepsi Light, or Pepsi Lemon, or Coke II, etc, the consumer will have the final say. Repeat sales and a successful Florida campaign could land Walgreens 'National'..and whatever walgreens does, so does cvs..thats when the stock goes to pluto, if we're not bought by then... look for cvs florida to sign on within a month or less...long ATTD !
