Hi Bob, If we assume the map is drawn to scale (and the aerial photo seems to indicate thus) then I come up with about 0.37 miles for the back straight. Between the exit of Turn 2 and turn-in for #3 is about 1/6th of a mile. From 5b to 7 is just about a quarter mile. The Start/Finish straight is about a 1/6th of a mile also.
I didn't sum up the listings above, but hope it doesn't add up to more than 2.2 miles!
Some of the tracks I've raced at are built up around a drag strip. It's easier to scale them knowing the length of the quarter mile!
I think we'll see triple digits on that back straight. Not sure what top speed will be, however. #7's tight enough that we might be exiting it in 2nd gear. Hard to guess. Looks like fairly generous run-off room everywhere.
Here's more info on the track if you've not seen this page yet: http://www.bragg-smith.com/track/trackrental.html Third paragraph is interesting. "The road course keeps the car in constant transition, which, from a racing/testing perspective, provides both the drivers and the engineers full feedback."
A couple of photos I've seen show some rather large drop-offs at the edge of the pavement, so if they've not been around with the GradeAll recently we may have to be a bit careful about dropping a wheel. The "Photo gallery" will give you some ideas of the "edge" we might not want to use.: http://www.bragg-smith.com/photogallery/11.html
The pavement looks very fresh in these shots, so I would imagine it's in better shape now.
