Keith, Unlike you and many other INTEL investors/employees posting here, I´m working for an OEM that has to freely compete with multinational giants across the globe, I know the way INTEL does business with us and our competitors and I have not lost track of what is right and what is wrong, what are acceptable, tough business practices and what goes way beyond that, holding a whole industry hostage.
I know you have very strong feelings toward this case and towards Intel's business practices in general, but extraordinary statements like these require extraordinary proof. It's quite something to accuse Intel of holding an entire industry hostage, as if Intel is even doing a half-assed job at it.
Since you brought up your position, I'll bring up mine and tell you that Intel is one of the most paranoid companies around when it comes to anti-trust practices. Especially when it comes to choosing what directions to take in roadmaps, I've seen Intel pass over many opportunities to dictate terms and basically pull a Microsoft. In fact, thanks to the Rambus fiasco, Intel is basically once bitten, thrice shy, possibly to the point of being overly conservative. And you call Intel a company that steps way over the line? Boy, wouldn't that be something if Intel really was as aggressive as you claim they are?
Now I've got my viewpoint and you've got yours. We're both biased but reasonable people, so I'd appreciate it if you quit with the righteous indignation. Sure, some of my posts are off-the-wall, but my point when it comes to anti-trust matters has always been the same: AMD is being hypocritical, and all they care for is what they can get out of the law. If that suits you as an AMD investor, fine, but don't pretend for one second that this is all about fair competition.
