Good points. Being a pharmacist and having some insight to the climate of prescribing, I have had some doubts about the value of Statinome to the general public. Since such a small percentage of patients are actually at risk, will the cost of the test be justifiable for routine use? Unless it is inexpensive, I just don't see all the practitioners scrambling to use it, or insurance companies considering it as a necessity. It would enjoy its greatest value for those few patients who have taken a statin before and have shown symptoms of muscle damage. These patients could certainly use such a test to determine which statin could be used safely. But otherwise....(biting tongue)
