I like hockey as it's probably the best and safest sport for a child to play until about 12. It's certainly the toughest physically to play and requires the most skill and has a far greater audience than baseball worldwide. I liked Mike Modano as he was a really good player and it certainly is a major sport. Or maybe you think soccer sucks because nobody watches it in America. You need to travel more outside the US
