I think IDCC clearly stated up front they were not going to referee this type of rumor mill, and clearly IDCC is not the source of these unsubstaniated accounts.

If Evercore or Barclays is behind this type of anonymous reporting, I can't say whether or not they would be a part of it either and so I cannot attribute any sense accuracy to the statements.

I think it was stated when they contacted the companies that no comments were made to affirm or rebutt the hearsay.

Since everyone, including me, parses every word in such a cone of silence time, I think IDCC makes the wisest move by saying nothing at all.

Where it counted, they did step in on Friday - to state their support of the patent bill when some article came out stating that IDCC was not happy with the bill - IDCC stepped in and clarified to correct that incorrect perception. I think that also gives a hint at what is rumor, and what is materially important information.
