Sure you could. The risk is the trial goes past your call date, or something happens that causes a delay, then whammo you are still short and unless the stock goes up, you lose it all and still are short. Calls are very very risky as one never knows when the news will hit or any event actually happens till it happens.

If you time it right and the stock does as I suspect, then you make 4 times your money depending on the strike price of the call, as you will pay a premium for the call, so you can lose the difference between the price you sold short and the call price plus the premium so be sure you are comfortable with that strategy as it could bite you.
