B) False

A named tropical system in the Atlantic region retains its name if it crosses Mexico or Central America.

Your Answer: False

Though this is a rare event, Atlantic tropical storms and hurricanes have been known to cross the Latin American Isthmus into the Pacific Ocean.
For example, in 1988, Altantic Hurricane Joan made landfall in Nicaragua. By the time it emerged on the Pacific coast of Nicaragua, it was downgraded to a tropical storm and was renamed Miriam, where it hugged the coast of Nicaragua and El Salvador before finally dying out.
