2011 U.S. scooter sales improved by 28.9%

July 30, 2011 - (Various Sources, Edited by webBikeWorld) - U.S. motorcycle sales improved slightly in the first half of 2011 when compared to the same period in 2010. a

Motorcycle and scooter sales in the second quarter of 2011 rose 1.7%. Dual-sport sales improved by 13%; scooter sales improved by 28.9% and sportbike sales rose 3.3%. Off-road motorcycle sales continued a decline, down 17%. Overall sales were down 4.6% in Q2 and down by 1.6% in the month of June.

Dual Sport motorcycles and scooter sales were up significantly.

Dual Sport 15,876 Units (2010: 14,045). Up 1,831 (13%)
Off Road 37,123 Units (2010: 44,673). Down 7,550 (-16.9%)
Street Bikes 187,565 Units (2010: 181,542). Up 6,023 (3.3%)
Scooter 18,198 Units (2010: 14,122). Up 4,076 (28.9%)
Totals 258,762 Units (2010: 254,382) Up 4,380 (Approx. 1.0%)
