What does the Split mean?

Guys,

I'm new to stocks, learning as I go along. What does Portage's news of to 10:1 split mean? Say for example I have 10,000 shares which are currently worth $3060.00. Does the news mean that when I surrender my 10,000 shares I will have 100,000 shares but them shares will be worth $0.001 each as opposed to $0.31?
