I got a type that is supposed to produce a lot of small pumpkins. I figured that woud be easier to store and also a more convenient size for feeding. Thanks to a posted article about Jackie-I learned how to make the rind hard for winter storage.
Never thought of that. Next year I'll go to the smaller ones also. The more months you can stick pumpkin in their diet the better. What did Jackie say? Thought I read that too but can't remember. I need to start a garden journal.
Do you know of a good way to store watermelon?
Because of where I live I just wanted to see one first. LOL! Never tried them before. With my new indoor seed starting area next year they will be first on the list to get them growing. If we have another spring and june/july like this one was not sure if it will matter but I will keep trying. Once I grow some I'll look into storage. Considering the area I have for them unless I expand I doubt between family and chickens not much left for storage. If I read anything I'll let you know.
