Hi Excel...Some of my favorite eating in the world is sweet corn and home grown tomatoes. Add a watermelon in the mix and its pure bliss.

I don't know why? I never thought to plant sunflowers for feed. That's a great idea, thank you. I will next year.

The pumpkins were mainly planted with the chickens in mind. I got a type that is supposed to produce a lot of small pumpkins. I figured that woud be easier to store and also a more convenient size for feeding. Thanks to a posted article about Jackie-I learned how to make the rind hard for winter storage.

My watermelons aren't doing as well as I would like. We had a cool wet spring and they didn't get a great start. It takes so long for them to mature, its a tough call right now. I always plant "Baby Crimson Sweets" for a backup. They require a shorter growing period. Green klondikes are my favorite full sized melon. Do you know of a good way to store watermelon? My chickens do really like them. My boy's guinea pig favors it too. He is our garbage compactor.

Be careful what you ask for with the sun and heat. We were cooler this spring but in full summer mode now. The good Lord has been blessing us with timely rain. The farmer and the garden is truly grateful.

Let's make one thing perfectly clear. I've made nearly 992,453
mistakes in my life. It's entirely possible that this post is
