Quiz answer:…it may have something to do with sulfur as a byproduct of sour crude refining.

That’s right, although I would call the sulfur an unwanted element in the feedstock rather than a byproduct. The answer I was seeking is: APD! They are the world’s leading producer of H2 gas, which is used to remove sulfur from sour crude.
