You have to first ask and look at the U.S. and Israel as being a big part of the reasons why Palestinians do not yet have a free homeland and their children continue to be slaughtered (and yes, so are Israelis). Our foreign policy can be easily seen as an imperialist manifesto to the world outside of our own propaganda shell. Then just like Nazi Germany was a target whenever and wherever they were, Palestinian freedom fighters can also view it the same. So there is the chicken and the egg argument. Are the middle East people poor, suffering, without medicine and life's necessities and are being killed because of our past policies (spoken or unspoken, published or unpublished, covert and not covert), or are they purely policies of the current regimes that we have nothing to do with. With the U.S. having U.N. veto power and having vetoed many resolutions, I would think it is more than a bit of both. As you can see the answers are not just black and white as most Americans, especially Bush, would like to think. It is easy to sit back and say this is horrible and that should not have happened and only terrorist would do this, and at the same time turn a blind eye to state sponsored terrorism that is being practiced every day around the world (and well before 9/11).

JMHO.
