Hugh Grant (MON CEO) did not mention bagasse, specifically. What he said is that roughly 1/3 of an individual corn plant is used to make food products (oil, starch, HFCS, cornmeal) and roughly 1/3 is used to make silage. Grant’s claim is that the part of the plant used to make ethanol comes mostly from the remaining 1/3 of the plant that would otherwise be wasted.
