Stokhunter, If you take another look at the charted information on New Visual's website at http://www.newvisual.com/questions/data/q63.cfm I believe you'll see more accurately that symetrical VDSL currently supports less than 2mbps at 6,500 ft.

Thus, New Visual's Embarq first generation technology will extend the speed at this distance 4 to 5x!
