jb, And untill 9/11 we didn't give a hoot about what the US gov was doing beyond our shores, or about our foreign policies, or what anyone else thought about us. The attitude was "don't know, don't care".... We were all complacent as long as it was NIMBY, and there was comfort in our complacency. 9/11 changed all that, which I'm sure was the intent. Now the world needs leadership to insure that this does not end badly. But we have George Bush branding everyone an "evil-doer", and issuing ultimatums in absolutes - "You are with us, or you are with the terrorists"... And all of the "crazies" and unstable governments are following the "lead" of the only remaining super power...
