Looking at the poll numbers for Ryan, Palin and Newter suggests that the Republicans have a floor of 35% of the voters. Their overreach has moved the independents and moderates to Obama's column.

The Rs could run a pig--Palin?--or a loud-mouthed liar--Newter--and they would still get those votes. Even Romney, a weasel but the moderate in the R crowd right now, only takes four more percent. Still, its early and things could certainly swing back the other way. But with Walker and the overwhelming majorities that the Rs hold in the Wisc. legislature, the spotlight looks like it will remain on the Rs thugish behavior. God bless arrogance.
