AVVC - just some quick research
Here is a copy of the disclaimer for the Eric Dickson mailer on AVVC:
Avatar Ventures Corp (AVVC), the company featured in this issue appears as a paid advertising, paid by Apptech Industries Inc to provide public awareness for AVVC. Breakaway Stocks and Capital Financial Media (CFM) have used outside research and writes using public information to create the advertisement coming from Breakaway Stocks about AVVC....... CFM has received $800,000 for this print advertising effort and will retain any amounts over and above the cost of production, copywriting services, mailing, and other distribution expenses, as a fee for its services. Breakaway Stocks is paid $5000 as an editorial fee from CFM and also expects to receive new subscriber revenue as a result of this advertising effort.
Other Eric Dickson stock promotion websites also show disclaimers that they were paid by Apptech Industries Inc to cover AVVC:
http://thestockmarketwatch.com/newsletters/2011/05/11/avvc-this-is-the-big-one-1-jumps-to-20-78-2/
Avatar Ventures Corp., (AVVC), the company featured in this issue, appears as paid advertising, paid by Apptech Industries Inc. to provide public awareness for AVVC.... CFM has received and managed a total production budget of $1,800,000 for this online advertising effort and will retain any amounts over and above the cost of production, copywriting services, mailing and other distribution expenses, as a fee for its services. Breakaway Stocks is paid $5,000 as an editorial fee from CFM and also expects to receive new subscriber revenue as a result of this advertising effort.
Looks like the hard copy mailer left off a '1' in front of the $800,000.
This promotion is actually costing $1,800,000.
In typical Eric Dickson fashion he makes unrealistic stock predictions and ridiculous statements using the mobile app industry as a whole to try to pump AVVC which in reality has no money and no operations.
The last 10Q for the period ending January 31, 2011 shows that AVVC is nothing more than a shell. The company only had $16 in cash and no revenues.

It is probably no coincidence that AVVC put out an 8k after the close on Friday announcing they signed a letter of intent to acquire some other company, Apps Marketing Solutions, Inc. They gave the company 5,000,000 shares just for considering an the agreement (which it looks like they get to keep whether it the acquisition ever closes or not).
http://www.otcmarkets.com/edgar/GetFilingHtml?FilingID=7950711
Effective as of May 4, 2011, Avatar Ventures Corp. (“AVC”) entered into a binding letter of intent with Apps Marketing Solutions, Inc. (“AMS”) with respect to the acquisition of all issued and outstanding shares of AMS by AVC. AMS is a developer of mobile marketing solutions, ranging from simple text messaging campaigns to robust mobile applications. The AMS Mobile marketing solutions focus on use of smart phones, tablets and other mobile devices to market a brand or message intended to support clients’ integrated marketing strategies. Mobile marketing is commonly used in order to increase brand awareness, generate customer opt-in databases, and drive attendance to specific events and locations. AMS has also been developing iText Direct which is a proprietary SMS solution as well as a mobile web site intended to assist clients with an easy manner in which to navigate existing mobile web sites and/or build new mobile web sites.
In consideration for the acquisition of AMS, AVC will issue Five Million (5,000,000) shares of AVC restricted common stock. The parties expect to negotiate and execute definitive documentation regarding the acquisition prior to target closing date of May 30, 2011 (with possible extension to June 15, 2011). The closing will be subject to completion of mutually satisfactory due diligence.
Mr. Jack Stevenson, the owner of AMS, has previously been appointed President and Director of AVC as of April 1, 2011. Mr. Stevenson did not participate in the deliberation or voting by the Board of Directors of AVC in connection with the determination by AVC to enter into the transaction with AMS.
That last paragraph is very odd. The CEO makes it a point to tell investors that he did not participate in setting up this proposed acquisition and was not involved in approving it.
5,000,000 shares at the current trading price ($1.05/share) for AVVC amounts to over $5,000,000.
What makes Apps Marketing Solutions, Inc. so special that they are worth a $5,000,000 down payment just for considering this transaction?
This is after all only a letter of intent and we all know that a letter of intent means absolutely nothing beyond both sides agreeing to discuss a transaction. The 8K even clearly states that the most initial stages of due diligence hasn't even been performed.
The 8K has pump written all over it. So I now suspect that Apps Marketing Solutions, Inc. may have some connection to both Avatar Ventures Corp. and Apptech Industries Inc who is paying for the promotion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let's start some investigating
Research into Apps Marketing Solutions, Inc
I find it odd that the 8K calls the company Apps Marketing Solutions, Inc (with an 's' after the APP), but the press release calls the company App Marketing Solutions, Inc without the 's'
http://ih.advfn.com/p.php?pid=nmona&article=47486445
They have a website:
http://appmarketingsolutions.com/
But researching the domain registration information shows that the company has only had a website for a few months (since November 2010) and has a connection to Canada.
Add that they only paid for the domain for one year and it sure doesn't look like a company that is worth giving $5,000,000 in stock to just to consider an agreement.

Reviewing the site things get even more suspicious. Much of the talk on the site is about the mobile app market in general as a whole (similar to the Dickson newsletter and the AVVC press release). The site gives no real disclosure about the company it claims to represent, App Market Solutions. No address. No contact information. No list of products, etc.
Then this is this page which gives us a picture of somebody:
http://appmarketingsolutions.com/app-development
Some a web search quickly linked this picture to a spoof site:

Where is App Market Solutions Inc located?
Bloomberg Businessweek says they are located in Arizona:
http://investing.businessweek.com/research/stocks/private/snapshot.asp?privcapId=131364198
207-9375 East Shea Boulevard
Scottsdale, AZ 85260
9375 East Shea Boulevard is a corporate office that offers rentals ranging from 100 sq ft to 2500 sq ft as well as virtual office services:

The press release put out by AVVC claims that App Market Solutions Inc is based in Nevada - yet another discrepancy:
http://ih.advfn.com/p.php?pid=nmona&article=47486445
It is however registered as a business entity in Nevada:
http://nvsos.gov/sosentitysearch/CorpDetails.aspx?lx8nvq=EBYT1EhfVo26hNbwJhWlzA%253d%253d&nt7=0
Formed as a business entity on April 26, 2011 (just days before the press release and 8K filing).
They don't even have any officers listed for their business entity raising even more red flags that App Mobile Solutions Inc is not worth the $5,000,000 in shares paid to them just for considering a transaction with AVVC.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some research into AVVC and their connection with App Marketing Solutions Inc:
I found this:
http://www.avatarventurescorp.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/AMS-Sales-Doc.pdf
Interesting that AVVC seems to have uploaded that pdf file to their website back in April well ahead of the press release or the 8K and maybe even ahead of App Marketing Solutions Inc even being a registered business entity.
April was the same month that Jack Stevenson took over as the president of AVVC moving the company from its China address to California and changing the business operations of the company to mobile apps launching the AVVC website:

Research into Apptech Industries Inc
Apptech Industries Inc not surprisingly does not show up in any web searches not linked to Eric Dickson promotional newsletters.
Checking some of the more common SOS filings didn't result in any luck either.
Just like most of these types of promotions Apptech Industries Inc doesn't appear to be a real company and trying to prove who is behind this paid pump will not be easy.
