Stockhound-heavily promoted story stocks have high volume, particularly those trading at $100 or $200 per million shares. That has zero bearing on a claim of a naked short.

And heavily promoted story stocks often use matched trades and wash sales to create the illusion of volume and momentum.

So who would have taken this huge naked short position, and why did the brokers receiving the failed trades tolerate it?
