Good point .. there are considerable advantages to having a technology that heats any fluid (not just water) with the least power input possible ... and with a claimed 99% efficiency there certainly is not much room for improvement (or competition).

Many other applications indeed. A retail product is excellent for many reasons: huge number of potential customers, rebates available in many places/countries, money savings for the user (what is the ROI?), etc.
