Think of it like a foreclosure...

you buy a house for $500,000.00 but it goes into foreclosure because you failed to pay the mortgage.

later on it goes to auction... no upset price.

the winning bid is $100,000.00, you cannot bid on the property because that is the very same property you foreclosed on.

same with the assets of xmdc, it would be the same assets you declared BK upon... thus cannot buy it back... technically if you could, you should be paying your debtors with that money first.
