That was XOM and we KNOW how cumbersome and slow they can be. Probably a better comparison would be the CEIBA field. This was taken from discovery to production in 14 months. This field is just outside of the JDZ and was developed by Triton.....a much smaller independent oil company....well, much more like say PXD, NBL or even DVN. Best to compare apples to apples and XOM's to XOM's.

The "lift" off was the work committment programme submitted via NBL on block 4. 3 back to back to back wells within a years time. That is a very good showing of how ERHC and partners are planning to fast track the their blocks in the JDZ. Expect it!!!

BPH....were you aware that PXD started spudding a well in the deep waters of Nigeria in mid February????? They also reported to have an unnamed partner. They also report that an unnamed partner WILL eventually be a minority partner in PXD's subsidiary. Pleases me to know that Emeka Offor brought PXD to the region....now PXD is making a partner out of somebody and has already been spudding.....and who knows, they could have a discovery for all we've been told!!! After all, PXD had an 88% success rate in the drilling campaign in 2004! This company KNOW HOW TO FIND OIL.

The article outlined in this post describes why the vice president of Nigeria is not interested in the major oil companies:

"Atiku added that "we have for a long time got to the presence of major oil companies operating in the country, but they are not moving fast enough.

"The big companies are too slow so we intend to open the doors to more dynamic and energetic companies so as to speed up development of the sector," he said."
