Some feel that if IDCC announces a 2G Arbitration Judgement from Nokia comparable to the S/E 2G rate..that that day will be recorded as the start of the U.S. reversing its current unfavorable balance of Trade Payments.

Samsung is scheduled to report its first-quarter earnings on Friday.

The released estimate indicated that Samsung is the only major mobile phone maker to enjoy an increase in handset sales during the January-March period.

Samsung is estimated to have sold 24.5 million handsets in the quarter, up 16.1 percent from the previous quarter.

In contrast, Nokia‘s handset sales are expected to fall to 53.5 million units for the first quarter from 66.1 million units the quarter prior.
Motorola is also forecast to sell 27 million handsets in the first quarter, down from 31.8 million units in the three months ending 2004.
