if we could tap into the geo thermal energy there what would it do to our oil dependence in the USA?

~!~ Well since we don't have steam powered cars, house furnaces and I don't believe any large scale geo thermal electric conversion plants in that area, probably not so much.
And since investment in using thermal to force up oil isn't on the top of the list of oil execs....
