Somewhere on this board you have (I think) commented on people posting the contents of private messages ... but I'm tired of looking for your deathless prose, so I'll just grab this one and say you did.

At the time, I thought I agreed with you ... I was opposed to the idea. Now, I've changed my mind.

Last evening, I got a private message from someone I don't know and have never communicated with, here on iHub or anywhere else. The message was mildly offensive, but I responded in good will. That led to a couple of other messages, the last of which included an apology.

I may (or may not) publish that sequence of messages. I see no reason to extend courtesy to a cowardly clown that hides behind the anonymity of the internet to cast aspersions on others.

Now, Ms. Susie, please understand that nothing in this message is intended to cast an aspersion on you. You just happen to be a lovely person that I usually agree with, and I took advantage of your good nature to make a public announcement addressed to someone other than "None".

I thought I agreed with you that private messages should not be made public, but, like in so many other things in life, there are exceptions.
