REGN—What are your thoughts on the eventual commercial success of VEGF-TRAP[-Eye]?

In AMD, specifically, I think it’s going to be a tough sell, as mentioned in the prologue of #msg-56964596. The only benefit VEGF-Trap-Eye confers relative to Lucentis is the possibility for somewhat less-frequent dosing, and the advantage on this score is not clear-cut.

In DME, where VEGF is a more prominent element in disease progression than it is in AMD, VEGF-Trap-Eye may have a better chance to show superiority relative to Lucentis. However, the phase-3 program in DME has not even started yet.

Notwithstanding the above, REGN’s recent presentation at Bascom Palmer (#msg-59923921) is a good listen for anyone with an interest in treatments for back-of-the-eye diseases.
