During the many years that I have owned AMD and followed the company, there have been few news articles that I have read that have implied that the BOD's at AMD should be blamed for the company's current plight. On the one hand, we have the Intel architecture which currently is firing on all cylinders. I have come closer to being able to appreciate the difficulty in competing against Intel after reading some posts here on this board.
However, it is also my feeling that filling the post of CEO with someone who is looking for a real challenge might not be as simple as making a few phone calls. Hopefully, for me at least (if I may be allowed to root for the other side of my portfolio for a sec) some high caliber exec can be found. Bulldozer might not be able to match up perfectly with Intel's high end, but, it should at least shrink the gap some and this would create a healthier competition between the two companies. It is from this competition over the years that some incredible leaps have been made for the consumer. I look forward to seeing how Fusion looks with the BD core, and, having confidence in the next CEO would be a tremendous boon for the X86 rivalry as well. I haven't heard Phil Hester's name mentioned nor the former CEO of ATI, David Orton. Neither of these candidates is doing anything that would preclude them from considering the post of CEO of AMD...
