They have no choice due to
(1) Nokia agreement; if Ericy and/or SNE do not pay, Nokia might not have to pay forever
(2) the dire economic situation faced by Ericy at that time,
(3) they just been out manuaver (sp?) by the MEN.

Frankly they never should have cut the deal with ERICY they cut
