Job Description
The Disease Biology group of Momenta Pharmaceuticals is searching for an individual who will be responsible for cell based assay systems focused on drug development. Hands-on expertise in tissue culture of rodent and human cell lines and ideally primary cells, assay development and implementation as well as cell isolation techniques is required. Additional experience in ELISA or multiplexed assays, flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry is highly desired. This individual will be responsible for establishing and performing in vitro testing to guide the selection and development of therapeutic agents for the treatment of inflammatory and immune mediated diseases. Experience with animal handling and dosing is a plus. The candidate will have to excel in a fast-paced matrix environment, be highly collaborative, creative, self-motivated, flexible and detail oriented.
Required Skills
Hands-on experience in cell culture and isolation of cell lines and preferably also primary cells (immune cells such as T cells, splenocytes, antigen-presenting cells) or stem cells.
Ability to plan (with guidance), execute (according to research protocols or SOPs) in vitro cell based assays or cell isolations related to immune function, such as proliferation assays, cytokine secretion assays, cell staining for flow cytometry, cell signaling or immune regulatory mechanisms.
Develop assays and screen compounds to determine therapeutic efficacy of drug candidates and potential mechanism of action.
Perform translational and in vitro mechanism of action studies, including proliferation and cytotoxicity assays, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, ELISA/multiplexed assays, PCR, etc.
Plan, execute, analyze and report experiments with supervisor’s guidance on projects and collaborate with others within and outside the group.
The candidate must be a Team Player and must be able to collaborate with other team members across a range of disciplines.
Required Experience
*BS or MS degree in disciplines such as biology, immunology or pharmacology with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience
*Hands-on experience with tissue culture and cell based assays, preferably immunologic assays
*Working knowledge in immunology
*Independent, self-starter with ability to multitask and deliver results in a timely manner
*Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively work in a matrix team
*Strong writing and presentation skills
*Proficient in standard software programs like Word, Excel, Powerpoint
*Ability to perform basic statistics
*Demonstrated initiative and commitment to high quality work
