Yes, I supposed the word 'explained' in the first part of the quote struck me as an indictment against apologetics. I can see the wisdom in your [or perhaps Ravenhill's point] if it is in the line of James' warning not to be a hearer only, but a doer of the word.. To apply it to our lives in a real sense of faith, and not simply for intellectual exercise.
