We have adopted the convenient theory that the Bible is a Book to be explained, whereas first and foremost it is a Book to be believed. There is a world of difference between knowing the Word of God and knowing the God of the Word.
Leonard Ravenhill
My thoughts............
I have found the opposite more often true in today's 'age of reason'. People don't know what to believe because they do not study and know God's word.
To believe the Bible one would have to read it or heard it preached to know it's true. To have tasted Jesus for most.
I think what Mr Ravenhill is trying to get across is that one can be a scholar of the Bible yet still not know the author.
