As you can see they use Timber as their commodity portion and they are both REIT's. Larry S doesn't feel commodities belong in a port. because he feels they are a zero sum game. I could give you their (retired investor) reasoning for this if you like.

I really think the important issue is to diversify but use equal percentages and try not to slant any one way.
